Team News

Kilmarnock
Motherwell
  • Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes named an unchanged Killie team that made it two home wins from as many matches as they beat Aberdeen 2-0 on Sunday afternoon, before a 2-1 defeat to St Johnstone in Perth on Wednesday night.
  • Stuart Findlay, Joe Wright and Lewis Mayo continued as the Killie back three. Danny Armstrong started on the right hand side of midfield, as David Watson, Brad Lyons and Liam Polworth started in central berths.
  • Matty Kennedy had previously replaced the injured Corrie Ndaba on the left. Kyle Vassell - who netted Killie's consolation at McDiarmid Park - and Marley Watkins continued in attack, both having scored against the Dons at the weekend.
  • Stuart Kettlewell named two changes after Motherwell's crazy 3-3 draw at home to Ross County on Saturday, before another six-goal thriller saw them lose 4-2 to Aberdeen at Fir Park in their midweek match.
  • Paul McGinn continued to accompany Bevis Mugabi and Dan Casey in the Well's back three in front of goalkeeper Liam Kelly. Stephen O'Donnell and Brodie Spencer continued at right and left wing-back respectively.
  • Harry Paton came in to start alongside Lennon Miller in midfield, as Blair Spittal and Callum Slattery looked to provide the ammunition for Conor Wilkinson in attack. Oli Shaw and Theo Bair dropped onto the bench as a result.

Prediction

  • Both Kilmarnock and Motherwell lost their midweek matches, both teams hopeful of bouncing back with three points in the Scottish Premiership this weekend.
  • Kilmarnock dropped to fifth, as they allowed St Johnstone to pick up their first Scottish Premiership victory of the season. Just like last season, Killie's woes on the road appear to be continuing as they - and their midweek opponents - are the only teams in the division yet to claim a league win away from home. Back at Rugby Park, they're looking to claim their third home win on the spin.
  • Motherwell are winless in six Scottish Premiership matches, with their win at Tynecastle against Hearts in the first week of September their last league victory. The Well were victorious in Edinburgh a week after beating Kilmarnock 2-1 at Fir Park, courtesy of a 98th-minute winner, so would love to record a quickfire league double over Killie and ultimately return to winning ways.
  • Hosts Kilmarnock have been strong at Rugby Park recently and, despite being defeated in midweek, should have too much for an out-of-form Motherwell team this weekend.
