Luis Suarez is close to agreeing a new deal with Barcelona, according to AS.
The 29-year-old still has three years remaining on the five-year contract he signed when he joined Barcelona from Liverpool for £75m in 2014.
However, Barcelona are keen to reward the Uruguay international following two formidable campaigns for the La Liga champions and hand him a fresh five-year contract keeping him at the club until 2021.
Suarez is widely regarded as the best No.9 in football and there are reportedly only a few details that need to be ironed out before the deal can be announced.
Since the start of last season Suarez has scored at least seven more goals than any other player in La Liga (47). Not only that, but only Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann has played a direct hand in as many league goals this season as Suarez in La Liga (both 10).
