Lallana to miss Southampton reunion

Adam Lallana is set to miss out on the chance to return to Southampton after picking up a groin injury during the international break, according to The Daily Mail.

The Liverpool midfielder has been in sublime form this season and has developed into an integral cog for club and country having underwhelmed to begin with following his £25m move from Southampton in 2014.

Lallana was forced to limp down the tunnel midway through the first half of England’s 2-2 draw with Spain on Tuesday and is set to lose his race to be fit in time to feature against his boyhood club on Saturday.

The 28-year-old was assessed by Liverpool’s medical staff on Wednesday and further tests will be taken before a judgement is made on the energetic midfielder ahead of the weekend, as Liverpool look to stay top of the league.
