Leicester have tabled a £7.6m bid for Chelsea striker Loic Remy, according to L’Equipe.
Alexandre Pato’s imminent arrival at Stamford Bridge is expected to offset Remy’s departure before the end of the January transfer window.
The France international has failed to make a real impact ever since he was signed from Queens Park Rangers in August 2014.
Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri is keen to bolster his offensive options to help ease the goalscoring burden on Jamie Vardy, but Remy reportedly holds reservations over a move to the King Power Stadium.
With Shinji Okazaki and Leonardo Ulloa, as well as Vardy, in competition, the 29-year-old is concerned he will not be given regular playing time and is therefore leading towards a loan move to Newcastle.
Since the start of August 2014, no Chelsea player has required fewer minutes per goal than Remy (105.4 mins); second is Diego Costa (131.5 mins).
