Argentine faces fight to save City career

Pablo Zabaleta is fighting to save his Manchester City career, according to Manchester Evening News.

The 31-year-old defender has struggled for form and fitness this season having been one of the league’s most consistent performers in recent years.

He was particularly poor against Chelsea and was seen exchanging strong words with City manager Manuel Pellegrini when being hauled off for his own good just after the hour mark on Saturday evening.

The Argentina international is likely to be one of the players axed by incoming manager Pep Guardiola and his frustrations revealed a man that knows his time is coming to an end with the two-time Premier League champions.

Zabaleta has only started nine league games this season although only Fernandinho (3.3) and Nicolas Otamendi (3.1) are averaging more tackles per game than the City (2.9) right-back in the league this season.
