Wayne Rooney is set for crunch talks with Everton manager Ronald Koeman after being charged with drink-driving in the early hours of Friday morning, reports The Daily Mail.
The former England and Manchester United captain was stopped by police driving another woman’s car on Friday morning before later being charged for drinking over the limit.
Rooney is set to appear in court on September 18, which is the day after Everton travel to Old Trafford, but will face the wrath of Koeman next week.
Everton’s non-international players will report back to training on Monday after being given four days rest and Rooney is expected to be handed a heavy fine at the very least.
This latest controversy will particularly anger Koeman after he engaged into intense discussions before bringing Rooney back to Goodison Park about curbing any potential alcohol and lifestyle issues.
The 31-year-old had made a bright start to life back at his boyhood club and has scored both of their Premier League goals so far this season.
