Liverpool plan Bundesliga raid in January

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is interested in signing Hoffenheim star Kerem Demirbay in January, claims The Sunday Express.

Klopp wants to bolster his squad in the new year in order to close the gap on Manchester City and has already been heavily linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund starlet Christian Pulisic.

Reports emerged over the weekend claiming Klopp is ready to sell Fabinho after just six months at the club to fund a January splurge on Pulisic, but that would leave Liverpool a midfielder short.

With James Milner’s contract due to expire at the end of the season, coupled with the fact transfer target Aaron Ramsey looks set to move abroad in the summer, Klopp has his eyes on Demirbay.

The 25-year-old has only made five appearances in the Bundesliga this season after recovering from ankle ligament damage midway through September.

Demirbay enjoyed a sublime maiden campaign for Hoffenheim in the 2016/17 campaign before injury blighted his involvement last season.

The Germany international was in Dortmund’s youth academy at the same time Klopp was manager of the Bundesliga giants and now the Liverpool boss wants to bring him to Anfield.

No German has provided more assists than Demirbay (2) in the Champions League this season.
