Inter unlikely to secure services of Ivorian star

Inter Milan have admitted defeat in their pursuit of Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure, reports Manchester Evening News.

The Ivory Coast star is widely expected to leave City this summer, with Pep Guardiola revamping the squad.

Toure has been strongly linked with a move to the Serie A side since last summer, but has made it clear he will not be linking up with former manager Roberto Mancini at the San Siro.

In the process, Toure has rejected three advances from China that would make him the world’s highest paid player, with the midfielder reportedly keen on remaining in England.

When asked of his pursuit of Toure, Inter manager Mancini said: “I say that (Yaya) remains one of the greatest midfielders around in the game.

“But I think there is no chance he will be joining Inter.

“We have no regrets, though.”
