Green completes Chelsea switch

Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Rob Green on a free transfer.

The 38-year-old spent last season at Huddersfield Town, but didn’t make a single Premier League appearance.

Green has put pen to paper on a one-year deal at Stamford Bridge.

“Chelsea Football Club has today completed the signing of goalkeeper Rob Green,” a statement read on the club’s official website.

“Green joins to provide backup for Thibaut Courtois and Willy Caballero after leaving Huddersfield Town, where he spent last season.”

On his move to Chelsea, Green said: "It has been a whirlwind 24 hours. You are thinking about your career and where you want to go and then you get a phone call like this, and it is a short conversation.

“It has been a pretty dramatic time for me and I can’t wait to get started. I am absolutely delighted and it is a thrill and an honour to be here.”

Green hasn’t made a Premier League appearance since the 2014/15 season when he was at QPR, a campaign in which he committed more errors leading to an opposition goal (6) than any other player.
