United target not going to Madrid, says Wolfsburg chief

Wolfsburg managing director Klaus Allofs have quashed talk linking Manchester United target Ricardo Rodriguez with a move to Real Madrid.

Rodriguez’s name has been thrown in the hat as a possible transfer target for Real Madrid this month following their proposed transfer embargo from Fifa, which would mean they cannot register new players for the next two transfer windows.

The 23-year-old has been regularly linked with a move to United in the past, but both teams will have to look for alternative with Wolfsburg adamant they will not sell their star left-back.

“You can forget it, we certainly will not be doing that,” the Wolfsburg chief is quoted as saying by TeamTalk.com.

The Switzerland international is particularly dangerous when allowed to press forward. In fact, only Paul Verhaegh (14) has scored more goals than Rodriguez of defenders in the Bundesliga over the last three seasons (13) and only Johannes Geis (153) has delievered more accurate crosses than the Wolfsburg defender (134).
