Roma have been rebuffed in their attempts to have Jose Mourinho replace Rudi Garcia, according to Sky Sports.
Mourinho was sacked by Chelsea on Thursday and insists he is looking to get straight back into the managerial hot seat.
The 52-year-old has already heavily linked with the Manchester United head post and speculation will only intensify after Louis van Gaal’s side slipped to their third defeat on the spin in all competitions.
Roma, however, have been in turgid form this season and had been suggested to be hoping to lure Carlo Ancelotti back to the club.
In fact, Roma haven’t won a competitive match since early November and were knocked out the Coppa Italia in midweek by Spezia, who are a mid table Serie B side.
