Liverpool have no interest in selling midfield ace

Liverpool are not planning on selling Emre Can this summer despite the fact he will only have 12 months left to run on his current deal, reports The Guardian.

Can, 23, has yet to commit a new long-term deal and is believed to be holding out for a new contract worth £100,000-a-week.

Liverpool obey to a strict wage structure and Can is yet to prove he is even worth close to what would make him one of the highest earners at the club.

However, more pertinently to the Germany international, he is also concerned about his role in the team and would like to have that addressed by manager Jurgen Klopp before he agrees to put pen to paper on fresh terms.

Can is reportedly looking to be assured of a deeper role in the team, which is current occupied by captain Jordan Henderson, after blaming the constant demand on high intensity sprints in a more advanced role behind a calf problem that disrupted his involvement during the first half of the season.

He would not be short of suitors should Liverpool be forced to cash in on the midfielder this summer, with Juventus reportedly keen on his services.

Since joining Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen in a deal worth shy of £10m in 2014, the Reds actually have a better win ratio in the Premier League without Can in the starting XI (56.8%).
