West Ham set to bolster attack with Croatian star

West Ham are closing in on the signing of Nikola Vlasic from Russian Premier League side CSKA Moscow for a reported £25.7m, according to the Guardian.

Hammers boss David Moyes has been looking to bring in another attacker in the summer window and had explored the possibility of securing Jesse Lingard's services on a permanent basis.

Lingard moved to West Ham on loan from Manchester United in January and impressed in east London, scoring nine goals and providing four assists in 16 outings.

However, West Ham were unable to agree a fee with United for Lingard, who was valued at £25m by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.

As such, West Ham turned their attention to Vlasic, who has excelled in Russia following his arrival from Everton in 2018.

Moyes is looking to increase the size of his squad ahead of the Europa League kicking off next month, with the Hammers drawn against Dinamo Zagreb, Rapid Wien and Genk in Group H.

The Hammers on Saturday night completed the signing of Kurt Zouma from Chelsea with Vlasic expected to compete with Pablo Fornals, Jarrod Bowen and Said Benrahma for a spot in the XI.
