Barcelona target flattered by Chelsea talk

Steven N’Zonzi admits he is flattered by reports linking him with a move to Chelsea but insists he is primarily focusing on Sevilla.

The former Stoke City midfielder has enjoyed an outstanding campaign under Jorge Sampaoli this season and his performances have already caught the attention of Barcelona.

Luis Enrique’s side are reportedly weighing up whether to activate N’Zonzi’s £26m release clause when the January transfer window opens, as the Barcelona manager looks for cover for Sergio Busquets.

“It’s nice, it’s good [to be linked with Chelsea],” N’Zonzi told L’Equipe, via The Sun. “But I always say that this type of club is interested in other players too.

“I am not the only one. I know that big clubs are interested in many players. I focus on what I do at Sevilla. Until there is something concrete, we must remain professional.

“Some cubs were interested [in the summer] but I feel good at Sevilla. I enjoy the game, the football, I like the way Sevilla play, I feel good in the city, with the fans and the club, and I’m enjoying myself.”

This is N’Zonzi’s second season at Sevilla following a move from Stoke in 2015, but he is now stamping his dominance in their midfield.

In La Liga this season only Javier Mascherano (77.8) and Koke (76.6) average more passes per game than N’Zonzi (74.7).
