Liverpool have expressed an interest in signing Salzburg midfielder Valon Berisha, reports Austrian outlet Spox.
Jurgen Klopp will have to bolster his midfield options in the summer as Emre Can is expected to leave when his contract expires at the end of the season.
Liverpool have ruled out any interest in signing Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini but are eyeing a move for Berisha.
The Reds scouted the 25-year-old during Salzburg’s surprise win over Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League knockout phase earlier this season.
Berisha scored both of Salzburg’s goals in their 2-1 aggregate win, while only Dortmund midfielder Gonzalo Castro (8.08) garnered a higher WhoScored rating than the Kosovo international over the two legs (7.90).
Liverpool have already recruited two former Salzburg players in the shape of Naby Keita and Sadio Mane and are now looking to sign one directly from the Austrian outfit.
Berisha has scored more goals in 10 Europa League appearances this season (5) than he has in 24 league appearances (4) this season.
With Liverpool’s interest in mind, it’s worth considering the midfielder for your Football INDEX portfolios. Berisha will also start against Lazio on Thursday and will have to chance to impress once again.
