Serie A side Roma have turned down a bid for goalkeeper Alisson from Premier League side Liverpool, according to the Metro via Il Tempo.
The Reds have been heavily linked with a move for the Brazilian shotstopper as Jurgen Klopp looks to improve his side between the sticks.
Simon Mignolet and Lloris Karius have flattered to deceive when handed the chance to consolidate a first team spot leading to reports that Liverpool are keen on Alisson.
The 25-year-old has enjoyed a fine campaign to date, returning a WhoScored rating of 6.97 in Serie A this season, with Roma shipping just 16 goals in 21 league games.
Conversely, Liverpool have shipped 29 goals in 24 Premier League matches and crashed out of the FA Cup at the hands of West Brom on Saturday night after a 3-2 loss to the Baggies at Anfield.
Roma have informed Liverpool that Alisson would cost £44m, though the Reds may now wait until the summer before making their next move for the Brazil international.
