'Sterling worth £30m' - Carragher

Raheem Sterling is currently worth around £30m, according to former Liverpool centre-back Jamie Carragher.

Sterling is widely expected to complete a big money move - supposedly just shy of £50m - to Manchester City in the coming days after the Citizens and Liverpool reached an agreement over the sale of the England international.

Carragher, though, has suggested that City have overspent on the young wideman, telling Sky Sports News HQ: "Raheem Sterling - at this stage of his career and what he’s done up to now - he’s possibly worth around £30m.

"There will be more scrutiny on him because of the size of the fee. When players go for that much money there is that added pressure.

"He’s still a young player - he’s going to have ups and downs. At Liverpool, sometimes he was outstanding, but in the second half of last season he tailed off a bit as all young players do."

Only Steven Gerrard (9) scored more league goals of all Liverpool players last season than Sterling (7), while only Philippe Coutinho (109) completed more successful dribbles than the Englishman (103), so his absence will be felt.
