Bundesliga pair keen on Barcelona defender

RB Leipzig are looking to rival Bundesliga counterparts Schalke in the race to land Jean-Clair Todibo from LaLiga side Barcelona, reports Diario Sport.

The centre-back moved to Schalke on a six-month loan spell in January and they have the option to make the move permanent for €25m at the end of the season.

However, Schalke would face competition from RB Leipzig for Todibo in their bid to secure his services.

The Bundesliga title contenders are considering the option of bringing in another centre-back should Dayot Upamecano leave RB Leipzig this summer.

The young defender has been courted by the likes of Arsenal, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich and while reports of a one-year extension to his current deal have circulated, there has been no update from RB Leipzig regarding a new deal.

And RB Leipzig have targetted Todibo as a potential successor for Upamecano should he leave for pastures new in the off season.

Should Barcelona opt not to sell Todibo, then they could look to fetch in upwards of the €25m fee in his current deal with Schalke.

Todibo has made only two league starts for Schalke following his January move to Germany.
