West Ham have £20m bid for Bournemouth duo rejected

Bournemouth have rejected a combined £20m offer from West Ham for forward duo Callum Wilson and Matt Ritchie.

The Hammers have already begun their recruitment drive just days after the season has finished but they will have to look come back with a bigger offer to tempt Bournemouth into selling or look at alternative options.

Callum Wilson started the season in blistering form before missing seven months with a serious knee injury. Ritchie, meanwhile, has arguably been one of Eddie Howe’s best performers and the young Bournemouth manager insists they have no intention of selling two of their star assets.

“We had a bid yesterday evening,” Howe is quoted as saying by BBC Sport after their 3-1 defeat to Manchester United on Tuesday evening. “It was from West Ham but the bid was rejected and we have no intention to sell. We want to try to improve our squad, not weaken it.”

Of players to have scored at least five goals in the Premier League this season, only Marcus Rashford (31.3%) has a better conversion rate than Wilson (29.4%).
