Celtic tell Chelsea to forget about transfer target

Celtic have no intention of selling No.1 goalkeeper Craig Gordon to Chelsea this month, reports BBC Sport.

Gordon has 18 months remaining on his current deal and has emerged as a shock transfer target for the current Premier League leaders.

Antonio Conte’s side are on the market for a new understudy to Thibaut Courtois with Asmir Begovic keen to complete a January switch to Bournemouth in search of regular first-team football.

Gordon, 34, has spent the last two years in Scotland after leaving Sunderland to overcome his injury problems and has managed to recapture some of the form he showed that prompted Sunderland to pay £9m for his services in 2007.

However, Chelsea may have to sound out alternative options with Celtic adamant they do not want to sell the Scotland international this month.

Gordon has kept at least four more clean sheets than any other goalkeeper in the Scottish Premiership this season (11).
