Chelsea to work defender into Fabregas swap deal

Chelsea are looking to offload out-of-favour midfielder Cesc Fabregas to AC Milan and get defender Mattia de Sciglio in return, reports Calciomercato, via ESPN.

Fabregas, 29, has dropped down the pecking order at Chelsea since Antonio Conte’s arrival and doesn’t appear to have a future at the club despite his desire to work his way back into the frame.

AC Milan have previously been linked with the Spain international and Conte is reportedly eyeing a cash-plus-player agreement, which would see the Serie A side pay €10m (£8.74m) as well as De Sciglio in exchange for Fabregas.

The 23-year-old versatile defender has only started four Serie A games this season and has not managed to re-establish himself as a first-team regular at Milan since the 2012/13 campaign.
