West Ham to reignite interest in Saint-Etienne defender

West Ham are willing to spend £10m on Saint-Etienne defender Kevin Malcuit in the summer as Slaven Bilic finally looks to put an end to their misery at right-back, reports The Sun.

Right back has been a problem for West Ham for years having gone through the likes of Julian Faubert, Guy Demel, Carl Jenkinson and Joey O’Brien in the past without any sustained success in that position.

Michail Antonio, who is naturally a forward, has also been deployed there with varying levels of success but Bilic has also rotated between Havard Nordtveit, Sam Byram and Cheikhou Kouyate this season.

The Hammers had two bids rejected for Malcuit in January but are now determined to land the Saint-Etienne full-back in the summer with a £10m deal mooted.

It would mark an incredibly turnover for the Ligue 1 side, who were dumped out of the Europa League by Manchester United on Thursday, after only paying £700,000 for his services from lower-league Chamois Niortais in 2015.

Malcuit has completed at least 17 more dribbles than any other Saint-Etienne player in Ligue 1 this season (47).
