Liverpool defender Joe Gomez will make his full England debut against Brazil on Tuesday night after Gary Cahill failed to recover from injury in time, reports The Sun.
Gareth Southgate handed Gomez his senior England debut against Germany last week after Phil Jones picked up an injury during the first half of their 0-0 draw at Wembley.
Cahill was expected to replace Jones in the back three against Brazil at Wembley, but the Chelsea defender has failed to recover from a back complaint in time to feature.
It means that Gomez will make his full England debut up against the likes of Neymar, Gabriel Jesus and Liverpool team-mate Philippe Coutinho.
The 20-year-old will partner John Stones and Harry Maguire at the back as Southgate’s men look to keep out a rampant Brazil outfit that walked their qualification group for the 2018 World Cup.
While they managed to shut out the reigning World Champions last week, stopping Brazil will be an entirely different proposition for Southgate’s young lions.
However, Gomez is currently the highest rated right-back in the Premier League and features in the WhoScored Team of the Season as things stand (7.11).
