Arsenal now favourites to sign coveted striker

Arsenal are in advanced negotiations to sign Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette, according to RMC Sport.

Atletico Madrid were leading the race to sign the France international, but their transfer ban means a deal is effectively dead in the water, with Lacazette needing regular game time ahead of the 2018 World Cup.

Arsenal are now the bookies’ favourites to sign the 26-year-old, who scored 28 league goals for Lyon last season, while you can check out the latest odds and best bookies to place bets with at Bookmaker Advisor.

His fine form in France’s top tier saw him earn a better WhoScored rating (7.57) than any other player in Ligue 1 last season.

The Gunners are in the market for a new striker to replace Olivier Giroud, who has been linked with a move to West Ham.

And while Manchester United and Liverpool also registered an interest in Lacazette, Arsenal look to have won the race to secure his services.

RMC Sport also suggest that Arsenal will need to pay €50m to sign the French striker, who recently forced his way back into Didier Deschamps’ France squad.
