Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp wants to bolster his offensive options by signing Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele, claims The Sun.
Dembele left Borussia Dortmund to join Barcelona 12 months ago but has endured a difficult time in Spain.
The France international has struggled to nail down a regular starting berth at Barcelona, while his off-field behaviour has rankled many at the club.
Barcelona spent £135.5m to sign Dembele and are Liverpool are hopeful of prising him away from Camp Nou for a fraction of that price.
Liverpool are two points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City but their attack are yet to really get going this season.
Klopp hopes to change that by signing Dembele in January in a bid to push City all the way for the league title.
Liverpool shattered their club transfer record to sign Virgil van Dijk at the start of the year and are prepared to break it once more in January with an £85m move for Dembele.
The 21-year-old has played a direct hand in 14 goals in 28 league appearances for Barcelona (seven goals, seven assists) since the start of last season.
