Manchester United plan blockbuster new deal for Martial
Manchester United are ready to pull out all the stops to secure Anthony Martial’s long-term future with a five-year worth £45m in the pipeline, claims The Sun.
Martial’s United future has been the subject of intense speculation since Jose Mourinho joined the club and for the most part it seemed the Frenchman would have to leave Old Trafford.
The France international dropped further down the pecking order at the start of the year following Alexis Sanchez’s unexpected arrival but he has enjoyed a stunning resurgence in the last month.
Martial’s current deal is due to expire at the end of the season but United have no interest in losing the 22-year-old and hope he will follow in the footsteps of Luke Shaw and pen fresh terms.
Martial started his sixth successive match in Wednesday night’s shock 2-1 win away to Juventus - his longest run of starts under Mourinho - and played a key part in the victory.
The United No.11 has also scored in each of his last four Premier League appearances, raking up five goals in that time.
Since making a shock move to United from Monaco in 2015, Martial has scored more Premier League goals than any other teammate (29).
