Napoli president hints at Allan and Insigne departures

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has revealed he will consider selling Allan or Lorenzo Insigne if they receive the right offer.

The Serie A outfit are busily working to try and bolster their squad for the new season with Kostas Manolas and James Rodriguez on their radar.

However, incomings are not the only thing on the agenda at Napoli and more players could follow Raul Albiol out of the club this summer.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side appear to have fended off interest in star defender Kalidou Koulibaly this summer but now De Laurentiis has suggested Allan and Insigne are allowed to leave.

“We have so many ongoing negotiations; we need to focus on selling first. We have 40 players and so many need addressing,” Gianluca Di Marzio quotes him as saying.

“If offers for them [Allan and Insigne] come in time for us to be able to find replacements then we can take them into consideration, but if they arrive in the last 10 days of the window then they won’t be.”

Allan was heavily linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain in January but the French outfit could not agree a fee with Napoli.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side slapped a staggering €120m asking price on Allan’s head at the start of the year to fend off interest from PSG.

Insigne, meanwhile, has spent his entire career at Napoli and was even made captain last season.

The 28-year-old played a direct hand in 16 goals in 28 league matches last season, well short of his previous best of 27 goal involvements in the 2016/17 campaign.

Allan, meanwhile, has won possession in the middle third more times than any other player in the last two Serie A campaigns (308).
