Sagna set for new City deal

Bacary Sagna is set to land a new Manchester City deal after usurping Pablo Zabaleta as Manuel Pellegrini’s first choice right-back, reports the Daily Mail.

The France international joined City from rivals Arsenal on a free transfer in 2014 but spent his first season at the club as Zabaleta’s understudy.

However, Sagna, who will enter the final year of his contract at the end of the season, has since overtaken the Argentina international in the pecking order and is set to be rewarded for his form with a new 12-month deal.

Since the start of the season no City player has won more aerial duels in the Premier League than Sagna (66), nor has any outfielder featured in more minutes than the Frenchman (1,980)
