Roma turn to Ligue 1 for Salah cover

Roma want to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Jese and are prepared to dispense with Antonio Rudiger in order to secure his services, according to RMC, via Get French Football.

PSG side only signed Jese from Real Madrid over the summer but the Spanish striker has struggled to have any impact at the club, with Roma hopeful of taking advantage of the situation as they look to find a replacement for Mo Salah, who is not available for selection until February.

Roma are aware that the Ligue 1 champions are looking to strengthen their defence in the January transfer window and are hopeful Rudiger can be used as a sweetener to secure Jese’s signature.

Unai Emery is reportedly looking to add a fourth central defender to the squad to ease the pressure on Marquinhos, Fresnel Kimpembe and Thiago Silva, although it remains to be seen whether PSG are ready to part ways with Jese after only six months at the club.

Jese has only started one Ligue 1 game this season and has been forced to impress from the bench on eight occasions. One goal and a WhoScored rating of 6.32 ranks as PSG’s lowest rated player from those to have featured in more than five league games.
