Sevilla set to move for Arsenal outcast

Sevilla are keen to hand Lucas Perez an escape route from Arsenal in the summer as the Spaniard plots his exit from the club after just one season, reports The Sun.

Perez joined Arsenal from Deportivo La Coruna at the start of the season after Arsene Wenger’s side beat off competition from Everton and activating his £17.1m release clause.

The 28-year-old has failed to establish himself as a first-team regular for Arsenal this season and the player’s agent has already been forced to deny the player wants to leave the club after just six months.

However, Sevilla are still plotting a summer swoop for the versatile forward, although Arsenal will look to recoup all of their original investment in Perez, which could prove a stumbling block for Jorge Sampaoli’s side.

Despite struggling for game time, Perez has still managed to play a direct hand in 11 goals in 18 appearances for Arsenal this season and his lack of involvement has frustrated supporters.
