West Ham eye summer move for Manchester City defender

West Ham are keen on signing Manchester City veteran Bacary Sagna in the summer, according to The Daily Mirror.

Sagna, 33, has entered the final six months of his existing deal with City and isn’t expected to be offered a new deal with Pep Guardiola keen to sign new full-backs in the summer.

The former Arsenal defender has struggled to establish himself as Guardiola’s first choice right-back this season and will move on in the summer with West Ham keen to bring the France international back to London.

Right-back has been a problematic area of the pitch for West Ham in the last two campaigns and the responsibility has been shared by Michail Antonio, Sam Bryam, Havard Nordtveit and Cheikhou Kouyate already this season.

Sagna has spent the last three years with City after moving the the Etihad on a free transfer in the summer of 2014 after running down his Arsenal contract and has been a reliable performer for the Citizens. In that time, only Nicolas Otamendi (175) has won more aerial duels in the Premier League for City than Sagna (157).
