Pickford undergoes Everton medical ahead of club record move
Jordan Pickford has moved a step closer to completing a stunning £30m move to Everton after undergoing his medical on duty with the England U21 squad ahead of this summer’s European Championship, reports The Guardian.
The 23-year-old was keen to put his future on hold until after the European Championships in Poland, but Everton have moved quickly to beat their rivals to his signature after agreeing a club-transfer record deal with Championship side Sunderland.
Pickford was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal throughout last season after enjoying a breathtaking breakthrough campaign with Sunderland but Everton have now secured a deal that eclipses the £28m they paid Chelsea for Romelu Lukaku in 2014.
The Sunderland goalkeeper was one of very few positives for the Black Cats last season after they were relegated to the Championship for the first time in a decade.
In fact, only Tom Heaton (141) made more saves in the Premier League last season than Pickford (135), while the youngster also finished the campaign in the WhoScored Team of the Season (7.04).
