Paris Saint-Germain served blow in pursuit of Premier League striker

Paris Saint-Germain will have to look at alternative striking options after the agent of Christian Benteke insisted the striker was completely focused on steering Crystal Palace clear of the bottom three.

Benteke, 27, has emerged as a target for the Ligue 1 champions as their director of football, Patrick Kluivert, seeks a new striker to help ease the goalscoring burden on Edinson Cavani.

The Belgium international only joined Palace in the summer for a club-record £30m deal from Liverpool but has yet to really hit the heights expected since his arrival.

Nevertheless, despite the fact a potential move to PSG would give Benteke the chance to play for one of the biggest clubs in Europe, his agent, Eris Kismet, insists there has been no contact from the Ligue1 champions.

“I have read about it like you but there are lots of rumours during this period and I have not been contacted either directly or indirectly by PSG’s representatives,” Kismet told L’Equipe, via Get French Football. “The player I 100% concentrated on the project at Crystal Palace.”

Not only has Benteke been linked with a move to PSG, but the Palace ace has also dismissed suggestions he could cash in on the riches of China this month amid interest from the Far East.

Benteke has scored eight goals in the Premier League for Palace so far this season but has saved his most effective performances away from Selhurst Park, where six of those goals have come. Not only that, but only five players have a higher WhoScored rating away from home than Benteke (7.63).
