Swansea set to sign Championship midfielder

Swansea have agreed a deal in principle worth a reported £15m to sign Hull midfielder Sam Clucas, reports BBC Sport.

The Championship outfit turned down an initial £12m bid from Swansea for the 26-year-old but Paul Clement’s side have now made a breakthrough in an improved offer.

Clucas is now free to discuss personal terms with Swansea and undergo a medical before the deal can formally be completed with the Welsh outfit.

Clement’s side are expected to be one of the busiest teams in the last few weeks of the transfer window after raising £45m from the departure of Gylfi Sigurdsson to Everton earlier this month.

Clucas was one of few bright points for Hull in the Premier League last season and will now be given a second crack in England’s top-flight.

Since the start of last season, Clucas has won possession in the middle third more in the league times than any other Hull player in (96), while also making the most tackles (94).
