Manchester United want two Real Madrid players for De Gea

Manchester United are prepared to play hard ball with Real Madrid over the signature of David de Gea and will look to include Raphael Varane and Alvaro Morata in any deal this summer, reports The Sun.

Madrid missed out on signing De Gea in 2015 but have rekindled their interest in the United star this season and want to make him their new goalkeeper ready for next season following Keylor Navas’ underwhelming performances this term.

However, Jose Mourinho’s side won’t just roll over and allow De Gea to make his dream move to Madrid this summer without a fight and will look to get some Madrid players in exchange for his signature.

The United manager brought Varane to Spain during his time as Madrid manager and previously failed in his attempts to take the France international to Chelsea and also United last summer.

Mourinho is a huge fan of the centre-back and would see him as the ideal fit for his defence next season, while a move for Morata would also beef his offensive options with Zlatan Ibrahimovic sidelined for at least the next eight months.

Neither Varane nor Morata has managed to establish themselves as first-team regulars for Madrid but Varane is very much the future of the Madrid defence and has already revealed he turned down he chance to reunite with Mourinho in the past.

Despite only starting 11 La Liga matches this season, only Cristiano Ronaldo (19) has scored more league goals for Madrid than Morata (12).
