Manchester United lead the charge for Tottenham ace

Manchester United are at the front of the queue to sign injured Tottenham star Danny Rose, reports The Daily Mirror.

Jose Mourinho is keen to sign a new left-back this season after losing faith in Luke Shaw and spending the season rotating between Daley Blind and Matteo Darmian on the left hand side of his defence.

Rose has emerged as one of the best left-backs in the Premier League since Mauricio Pochettino took charge of Tottenham in 2014 and the England international has also been heavily linked with a move to Manchester City this summer.

However, Pep Guardiola appears to have diverted his attention to signing Monaco defender Benjamin Mendy, which has paved the way for United to have a clear run at signing Rose, although the chances of successfully prizing the 26-year-old away from Pochettino’s side remain slim.

Tottenham are expected to let Kyle Walker join City but it seems incredibly unlikely that Daniel Levy would sanction the sale of both starting full-backs this summer after the pair have established themselves as the best full-back combination in the Premier League.

Rose hasn’t featured for Tottenham since suffering knee ligament damage against Sunderland in January and is expected to miss all of pre-season after undergoing further surgery in May, which may even scupper United’s pursuit of the defender.

The Tottenham No.3 finished the season as the highest rated left-back in England’s top-flight but missed out on the chance to feature in the WhoScored Premier League Team of the season after only managing 18 appearances (7.47 rating).
