Paris Saint-Germain make decision on Cavani's future amid interest from Chelsea

Paris Saint-Germain have taken Edinson Cavani off the market, claims L'Equipe.

Cavani has no future at PSG after dropping completely out of favour under Thomas Tuchel this season.

The Uruguay international was desperate to secure a move away from PSG this month rather than wait until the summer when he will be a free agent.

Chelsea briefly explored the possibility of signing Cavani but quickly looked at alternatives due to the finances required to get the transfer done.

Cavani's preference has also been to join Atletico Madrid, who have worked hard to try and sign the 32-year-old before Friday's deadline.

Diego Simeone's side bid as much as €15m (£12.6m) for Cavani , short of PSG's €20m (£16.8m) valuation, and have now decided to wait until the summer to land him for nothing.

Atletico hoped to use the money raised from Thomas Lemar's departure to prise Cavani away from PSG but they have failed to offload the former Monaco winger.

Cavani will now have to spend the remainder of the season at PSG, where he will be forced to watch on from the bench.

Cavani has only started four league matches this season but when he does depart PSG he will be remembered as one of the club's best players.

In fact, since joining PSG from Napoli in the summer of 2013, Cavani has scored at least 45 more goals than any other player in Ligue 1 (136).
