Huge loan fee scuppers Arsenal’s move to Barcelona forward
Arsenal have been priced out of a loan move for Barcelona outcast Malcom, claims The Sun.
The Gunners have announced the loan arrival of Denis Suarez from their Spanish counterparts but also wanted Malcom as part of the deal.
Barcelona spent in excess of £30m to sign Malcom last summer but the Brazilian has failed to make any impact at the club.
Tottenham were linked with a move for the 21-year-old earlier in the window and now it has emerged their north London rivals also made an enquiry.
Barcelona still believe Malcom has a bright future and are willing to send him on loan to get regular playing time but want a huge loan fee in return.
Arsenal have no money to spend on permanent transfers this month and are scrapping the barrel for loan fees, forcing them to abandon their pursuit of Malcom.
Malcom was a revelation in France last season, playing a direct hand in 19 goals in 35 league appearances for Bordeaux.
However, he has managed just six league appearances for Barcelona this season and is yet to score or assist.
