Manchester United interested in Monaco midfielder

Manchester United have emerged as surprise suitors for Monaco midfielder Youri Tielemans, claims The Independent.

Tielemans spent the second half of last season on loan at Leicester and has no future at Monaco under current manager Leonardo Jardim.

Leicester want to secure Tielemans’ services on a full-time basis but did not have an option to make his loan switch permanent.

Despite a successful six-month stint at Leicester, Tielemans future remains uncertain and now United are interested in the Belgium international.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants United to focus on signing talented young players rather than established names following a string of failed transfers.

United are on the market for at least one new central midfielder after announcing Ander Herrera will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the month.

However, Solskjaer has earmarked Tielemans as his ideal replacement for Paul Pogba should the 2018 World Cup winner leave for Juventus or Real Madrid this summer.

Tielemans scored or assisted seven goals in 13 league appearances for Leicester last season and finished the campaign with a WhoScored rating of 7.14 in the Premier League.
