Galatasaray sign Super Lig goal machine

Turkish giants Galatasaray have announced they have signed Mbaye Diagne from league rivals Kasimpasa.

Galatasaray have been crying out for a new centre-forward all season and have now turned to the league’s top scorer in a bid to catch leaders Istanbul Basaksehir.

Fatih Terim’s side are six points behind Basaksehir but Diagne’s arrival for a reported €10m (£8.8m) fee is a major statement of intent for last season’s champions.

Diagne only joined Kasimpasa 12 months ago but the Senegal international has been a revelation in Turkey this season.

The 27-year-old, who has penned a four-and-a-half-year deal running until 2023, is the only player in the Super Lig to have reached double figures for goals this season.

Incredibly, Diagne is not only the only player to reach double figures, but he has scored 11 more goals than his nearest competitor (20). Moreover, he has scored more goals than six teams in the division.
