Manchester United weigh up bid for Spain international defender

According to a report via Spanish newspaper AS, Manchester United are preparing to make an offer for La Roja international Marc Bartra.

The 26-year-old only joined Borussia Dortmund from Barcelona last summer but the story suggests that Mourinho views to former blaugrana defender as the perfect fit for his side.

The Red Devils have already splashed the cash on Victor Lindelof to bolster their defensive ranks, so any move for Bartra would come as a surprise given the impression that Eric Bailly made last season.

That said, United are believed to be willing to listen to offers for the likes of Chris Smalling and Daley Blind which would free up spaces in their squad ahead of a return to the Champions League next season.

Bartra impressed in his debut Bundesliga season, though it was one cut short by the wrist injury he sustained in an attack on the BVB team bus ahead of their Champions League quarter-final with Monaco.
