On-loan midfielder set for Arsenal contract talks

Arsenal are set to open negotiations with Jack Wilshere over a new contract, according to the Daily Mirror.

The England international is currently on loan at Bournemouth though his future at the Emirates remains up in the air.

The Cherries are keen to sign Wilshere permanently in the summer, while West Ham are also readying a move for the midfielder.

Wilshere’s current deal for Arsenal runs until 2018 and the Gunners are keen to secure his services in the long-term, even if he has started just 10 Premier League games for the north London side since August 2014.

The 25-year-old, though, wants assurances over game time before putting pen to paper on a new deal in north London, with he recently losing his place in the Bournemouth starting XI.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has admitted that he had not spoken to Wilshere over a new deal and the club had not contacted the player over the possibility of extending his stay with the Gunners.

Manchester City are also thought to be looking into the possibility of signing Wilhere, who Arsenal value at around the £20m mark, even with a little over 15 months left to run on his contract.
