Alex Teixeira has talked up the possibility of moving to Liverpool before the close of the January transfer window, according to the Daily Star.
The Reds have leapt to the front of queue of potential suitors for the Brazilian, with reports suggesting they are closing in on his signature.
While a fee has yet to be agreed, Teixeira is confident that a deal will be in place before the end of the month.
"Shakhtar Donetsk are not very big in Brazil, and I think I may need to move on to stand out and earn a place in the [Brazil] squad," Teixeira told O Globo. "That is my goal for 2016."
The 26-year-old has been in scintillating form for Shakhtar this season, netting more league goals (22) than any other player in the Ukrainian Premier League.
