Radja Nainggolan has revealed he already decided to stay at Roma during the transfer window but admits a new deal is close to being agreed.
The Belgium international was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea in the summer but Roma rebuffed any attempts from Antonio Conte’s side.
Nainggolan, 28, has now revealed that a new deal is in the pipeline and an agreed should be reached shortly.
“A renewal? I had already decided to stay,” Football Italia quoted Nainggolan as saying at a sponsorship press conference.
“I’m happy here and this thing will work itself out. I think we’re both on the same page, we’ll find an agreement soon.”
In the last five Serie A seasons only Allan (620) has won possession more times in the midfield third than Nainggolan (596).
