Dortmund leapfrog Real Madrid in race to sign teenage sensation
Borussia Dortmund look set to complete the signing of Real Madrid target Alexander Isak for a rumoured £8.65m, according to the Guardian.
Isak has emerged as one of the hottest prospects on the continent after a superb season for Swedish outfit AIK, which saw the teenager score 10 goals and register one assist to contribute to a WhoScored rating of 7.04.
Real Madrid were confident of getting a deal completed for the 17-year-old last week, with the player’s representatives travelling to Spain to discuss personal terms.
However, Isak looks to have had a change of heart and has supposedly expressed a desire to move to Borussia Dortmund.
The German outfit have a glowing reputation for being one of the best European clubs for young talent, with Thomas Tuchel utilising Christian Pulisic, Ousmane Dembele, Emre Mor, Julian Weigl and Raphael Guerreiro this campaign, with the latter the oldest of the five players at 23 years of age.
Isak become the youngest ever player to score Sweden when he found the back of the net back in January against Slovakia, which will only have boosted his status as one of Europe’s most talented young attackers.
A deal that would see Isak move to Germany could be concluded as early as Sunday.
