Burnley enquire after Championship defender

Burnley have enquired after Queens Park Rangers club captain Nedum Onuoha, reports The Daily Mail.

Onuoha is out of contract at the end of the season and QPR are desperate to convince the former Manchester City defender to extend his stay.

The 31-year-old has already turned down several opportunities to leave Loftus Road in the past but QPR could struggle to keep their captain this time around.

Burnley are bracing themselves for January interest in Ben Mee from their Premier League rivals and have seemingly sounded out a potential replacement.

Onuoha reportedly has a release clause in his current QPR deal that would allow him to leave on a free transfer, which has piqued Burnley’s interest.

In the last three Championship campaigns, only Aden Flint (108) has blocked more shots than Onuoha (91).
