Barcelona sensationally attempt to hi-jack Roma’s move for Malcom

Barcelona have made a sensational late move to hi-jack Roma’s move for Bordeaux forward Malcom, claims Gianluca Di Marzio.

Bordeaux announced on Monday evening they had reached an agreement in principle for the sale of Malcom to Serie A before quickly backtracking.

Malcom’s €36m move to the Serie A giants was pending a medical examination and Roma fans were even waiting at the airport for the Brazilian’s arrival.

However, it has now emerged that Malcom has been told to stay in France after Barcelona tabled a late offer for the 21-year-old, superior to Roma’s.

The Spanish giants have reportedly turned their attentions to Malcom after failing in their attempts to prise Willian away from Chelsea.

Maurizio Sarri’s side are reportedly holding out for £70m for the Brazil international and Barcelona have already had three bids turned down.

Roma are determined to fend off late competition from Barcelona and are expected to return with an improved offer to get a deal over the line.

Malcom was a revelation for Bordeaux last season, scoring 12 goals and seven assists in 35 league appearances for the French side.

The Bordeaux No.7 won the WhoScored Man of the Match award on eight occasions in that time, finishing the campaign with an impressive rating of 7.46.
