Guardiola set for reunion with former Barcelona favourite at Manchester City

Dani Alves is expected to complete a move to Manchester City this summer, just one year on from signing for Juventus, according to The Guardian.

City are in desperate need of reinforcements at full-back with the likes of Zabaleta, Sagna and Clichy leaving the club on free transfers and Alves proved this season that he is still among the best around.

The Brazilian endured an injury-hit league campaign with the Serie A champions but his form in Europe in particular helped the Old Lady to a second Champions League final appearance in three years - scoring three goals and assisting four to earn a place in WhoScored.com's team of the tournament.

The 34-year-old is one of the most decorated players on the planet and Guardiola no doubt hopes that a player of his experience can help instill a winning mentality at the Etihad, as well as being well-versed in the Catalan's methods from their time together at Barcelona.

The move comes as a surprise given that Alves only made the move to Turin last summer but a deal is thought to be close for a fee in the region of £5m, with the right-back reportedly having agreed terms in principle with Manchester City.
