West Bromwich Albion striker Salomon Rondon has escaped retrospective action from the Football Association for slapping Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo round the face, reports The Daily Mail.
Rondon, 27, was involved in a heated exchange with the United defender in the second half of their 2-0 defeat at home to Jose Mourinho’s side in which the striker was caught on camera slapping Rojo.
Phil Jones and Rojo were left incensed by the action of the Venezuela international, which only resulted in a yellow card for Rojo and Rondon, but the FA have opted against taking action of the Baggies frontman despite the fact the offence was not spotted by referee Anthony Taylor or any of his officials.
A three-man panel decided the incident was not worthy of a red card which means Rondon is free to play against Arsenal on Boxing Day, providing a big boost for Tony Pulis side.
Rondon has scored 33.3% of West Brom’s goals in 2016 and became the first player since Duncan Ferguson in 1997 to score a hat-trick of headers in the Premier League when he managed the feat in a 3-1 win over Swansea earlier this month.
