Liverpool have entered contract negotiations with goalkeeper Simon Mignolet just a day after manager Jurgen Klopp gave him his public backing.
Mignolet, 27, has come underfire at times since joining Liverpool in 2013 and was at fault for Bordeaux’s opener in the Europa League last week.
However, Klopp was adamant he would not enter the market for a new goalkeeper in January and, according to The Guardian, Liverpool have now begun talks to extend his deal at Anfield.
The Belgium international still has three years left to run on his current deal but would get an advance on his current £60,000-a-week deal if he penned to the new terms.
No goalkeeper has kept more clean sheets in the Premier League than Mignolet in 2015 (14).
